Milwaukee Wedding Photographer: Mauly & Shim!
Being a Milwaukee wedding photographer means getting invited into the inner circle of a family on an incredibly meaningful day for everyone. We spend a lot of time listening and observing to learn on-the-fly what will mean the most to this couple and family as we go about our photographic scavenger hunt. Mauly and Shim provided us a fun game of interpretation as most of their communication with everyone was in Hmong. What we learned throughout their day was the result of observing the subtleties that happen between family, the little looks, giggles, and tears that clued us into the emotional undercurrent that everyone was experiencing.
Following a traditional Hmong wedding in May, this day was about their Lutheran ceremony and celebrating at the reception afterward! Time was also set aside for some amazing wedding party photos and photos of just the two of them in between. We were blessed with an absolutely perfect day and were able to rock the beach shots they were hoping for revisiting their engagement session spot. The reception was at the Oak Creek Community Center and featured all the Hmong traditions including many toasts, group dances, and a variety of casual group photos to make sure everyone who attended will be remembered.
We are so thankful that Mauly and Shim found us when searching for their Milwaukee wedding photographer. They took a very traditional route to their wedding and brought us in to tell their story in a very real way. From the beginning this is how they described their photographic priorities: “We want our photographer to capture a story of our wedding. Capturing the natural essence is a plus. Composition of the photographer and how we are placed in the frame is essential. I personally love breathtaking backgrounds.” This is such a great balance of everything that we are hoping for in a wedding and a couple: a strong sense of family and self along with a genuine appreciation for what makes a photograph special.
