Starline Factory Wedding: Alison & Cody!

Starline Factory Wedding: Alison & Cody!

All weddings are unique and special to us. That particular group of people on that day expressing those emotions will never happen again and we cherish each opportunity to capture as much as we can of those opportunities. Every family becomes our family for the day. But when we get to tell a story of our actual family, all that gets multiplied to the nth degree. Amanda had the very special honor of documenting her cousin Alison and Cody’s Starline Factory wedding. It was an amazing day for all the photographic reasons (the light, the decor, the dresses, the flowers,…) but also because Amanda’s cousin Alison married a great guy. “We like Cody,” explained Amanda weeks after the wedding.

What’s not to like? He obviously cares deeply for Alison. Check out their proposal story. ” It was actually pretty cute . Lol when we were 17 we went to Chicago and went to millennium park. They had these electronic faces blown up on two towers and they were just random people/ faces projected onto the towers. I told him that when he proposes he has to put his face on this wall and mouth ‘will you marry me?’ Well, that didn’t exactly happen, but close enough. Eight years later, he took me back there at midnight when the park was closed and got down on one knee …”

The Starline Factory was a unique setting for their day. All her life, Alison and her mom have taken a train into the city from their suburban Chicago home. It was on those train rides that they discovered this erstwhile factory and stumbled upon the perfect industrial wedding venue for her vision. “I wanted a simple venue that did not need a lot of decorations,” said Alison. The train is actually featured in the couple’s nighttime beauty images at the end of this post!

Alison and Cody were sure about one thing – no first look for them! “We don’t want to see each other before I walk down the aisle so we want to have pictures of us holding each other’s hands but not being able to see each other,” explained Alison. Amanda thought it would be great to incorporate the letters they each wrote each other into this part of the day. All she needed was a door! So simple yet so perfect!
