Milwaukee Event Photographer: State of the City!
We had an early start the other day when we covered Mayor Tom Barrett’s State of the City address for the city of Milwaukee. One of the reasons we were there extra early is we were doing photos and video for the event. We have been offering commercial video services for a few years and it has really grown to be a big part of our business. We were thrilled when the City of Milwaukee chose both options. Being a homegrown Milwaukee business, it is extra special to be at a point where the city and Mayor are relying on us to tell their story.
Mayor Barrett covered a wide range of topics during his address, but the perhaps the strongest message was about his “10,000 Household” campaign.
“I’m very proud of the progress we are making to improve the lives of Milwaukee residents and the health of our neighborhoods. But there’s much more to be done. So today, I am issuing a challenge – let’s work together to improve housing opportunities for 10,000 Milwaukee households.
I’m happy to announce that Associated Bank is our first corporate partner in this effort. Associated Bank has agreed to purchase a significant portion of our STRONG HOMES Loan portfolio, which means we hope to add approximately $1.5 million to the funds available to help people stay in their homes.
This is a great deal for the City, and for Milwaukee homeowners in need of emergency and essential home repairs. We appreciate Associated Bank’s shared commitment to creating and sustaining homeownership in Milwaukee’s neighborhoods. Our “10,000 Households” campaign is going to need additional partners. We’re hoping to leverage our city programs with other financial support to keep families in their homes and to create new homes. That’s why I’ll also ask the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority and lending institutions to increase their investments in affordable housing.”
This type of forward thinking is what has taken our city so far in recent years and what will keep it from stagnating.
It was in the new Northwester Mutual addition, which was just stunning. It is remarkably open to the public, which we learned from the Mayor’s speech was a response to the old Northwester Mutual campus feeling closed off to the general community. What a great move! It really felt like a very special place.
