Discovery World Wedding: Lauren & Drew!
Lauren and Drew planned an amazingly fun day for their Discovery World wedding. They surrounded themselves with an awesome wedding party, beautiful locations, and all the emotional prescience one could muster. Even with an abundant amount of rain, Lauren and Drew’s exuberance to be married to each other outshone any weather impediments. Everyone was thrilled to watch this sweet couple get married and help them celebrate all night long.
New to the Milwaukee hotel scene, the Milwaukee Westin was a great place to start the day. The lobby had a modern feel and offered plenty of opportunities for photographing Lauren’s details. Being right in the heart of downtown the location couldn’t be beat.
Drew reading his letter from Lauren was an emotional experience.
It was very special for Lauren to have her mother and sister helping her prepare for her big day. These are the women that have always supported her and they were thrilled to be able to be there for her.
First her dad, then her Drew. That’s the order in which they loved her and saw her this day. In fact, it was her dad that drove her to the first look with Drew. The location of the first look was one of the first solid plans for the day. This is the path at Marquette where Lauren and Drew’s relationship developed. They met while going to PT school together and strolled this path often on the way to and from class. It was simply the only choice for a first look. The threatening rain added a bit of drama to the situation, but we made it back to the cars just as the first drops fell.
While the rain may have altered our plan for wedding party photos, it was no huge sacrifice to use the awesome Discovery World tent as our backup location.
While walking around checking the rain situation, Eron spied this grandpa and grandson sharing a moment through the rain-streaked tent window. He heard from a number of guests how excited they were that this image was captured. The relationship between these two is very special. These subtle moments are the ones we live for. We never know which ones will truly resonate so we just try to shoot them all!
We find that with most rainy days, some opportunities for sunshine will present themselves. For Lauren and Drew, the timing couldn’t have been better. With just enough time before the ceremony started, the sun came bursting through the clouds and they were able to take advantage of it on the breakwater surrounding Discovery World.
We said this was a fun wedding party, right?
