Milwaukee Engagement Photographer: Kaitie & Curtis!
One of the more fun and challenging things about being a Milwaukee engagement photographer is coming up with new locations. It’s tempting to go back to the places you know work, but that can get stale. Kaitie and Curtis wanted a little bit of nature, a little bit of urban and had no specific location in mind for their engagement session. We hadn’t been to Barnacle Bud’s all year so we thought this would be the perfect time. Barnacle Bud’s is a really cool place on many levels. Nestled amongst industrial buildings, the path to this cozy bar definitely feels nefarious, weaving deeper and deeper into the industrial underbelly of Bay View. But once you round the corner on the dock, it almost feels like you’ve left Milwaukee and immediately transported to Key West.
Without spending time scouting out new locations, we would never know about half the places we love to shoot. This city has a lot to offer in terms of alternative locations, but it definitely takes some digging to find them. After years of being a Milwaukee engagement photographer, we have built up our mental rolodex of locations, but we never stop searching for new ones.
Nefarious paths and a Key West feel are wonderfully unique components in a photographic location. There are myriad textures, reflections, surfaces, and even trees to use to frame a couple! Kaitie and Curtis were game for just about anything. They were just thrilled to be engaged and creating photos to prove it! That is clearly reflected in their near constant grins. Some couples stop and think when getting in front of a camera, wondering what they are supposed to be doing. Not so with Kaitie and Curtis. Unbridled giddiness is the best phrase to describe them. That all just makes us more excited for their wedding next June.
