We finally got to shoot a St. James 1868 Wedding! And we finally got to photograph Betsy and Zach’s wedding! We are so thrilled they were one and the same. This elegant, edgy venue was a perfect fit for this couple. Even though it was a day when the rain just wouldn’t stop, we were able to find out spots to make something beautiful for this couple.
It was quite a journey to get here, for both venue and couple. Saint James opened during a worldwide pandemic. Said pandemic forced Betsy and Zach into rescheduling twice before arriving at this date. Even now, some of their plans were compromised due to restrictions. When they learned there would be no dancing at their reception, they were disappointed. However, with the help of Morr Events, they came up with a great solution on the fly: an after party at The Pfister! We snuck into Blu for some wonderful nighttime couple photos to finish up the night.
Beginning and ending the day at The Pfister Hotel was a classic Milwaukee way to bookend this timeless day. We spent nearly every other moment of the day at Saint James, with one exception. Betsy and Zach had one major request for the day: to recreate a photo from Betsy’s grandparent’s wedding at the Milwaukee Courthouse. They sent a couple of photos along before the wedding for inspiration and we worked it into the plan. Despite the persistent rain, we pressed ahead, umbrellas in hand. These were some of the favorite images of the day for everyone. Here’s what we came up with.
