The Milwaukee commercial event industry, like everyone else, has been missing camaraderie for the past year. We’ve zoomed it up like the rest of society, but a group very accustomed to hospitality has had precious few opportunities to do what it does best for quite a while.
That is all starting to change! We gathered, for the first time in a long time, for a NACE, National Association for Catering and Events, meeting. The site was Brookfield Conference Center, a beautiful new facility that arose while we were all quarantining. With an assuring amount of hand sanitizer, there was also laughing eyes peeking out over masks and even a hug or two exchanged. It felt incredibly good to see so many old friends and even make some new ones in person, a novel concept.
The evening wasn’t just about reuniting. NACE assembled an amazing panel to take a deep dive into the conversation about coming back strongly and safely. The evening was hosted by David Caruso, President and Creative Director of Dynamic Events by David Caruso and the panel included: Kris Hillmer, President and CEO Wisconsin Restaurant Association; Munther Barakat, Director of Health Therapy Aurora Psychiatric Hospital; Peggy Williams-Smith, President and CEO VISIT Milwaukee.
The other contributing vendors were:
CORT, Red Petal, Majic Productions, Paper Envy
It was a beautiful, fun, safe evening and we can’t wait to have more.
