Milwaukee Commercial Photographer: Milwaukee Art Museum – Rashid Johnson
One of the most rewarding feelings of being a Milwaukee commercial photographer is being able to support the arts in town. The Milwaukee Art Museum is the apex of art in Milwaukee and we are always honored to work with their fantastic team whenever we can.
Of all the openings we have documented for there, the Rashid Johnson: Hail We Now Sing Joy exhibit may have been the most unique. The centerpiece was Antoine’s Organ, the monumental sculptural installation, inspired by the African diaspora, is filled with signifying objects including books, mounds of shea butter, and hundreds of live plants in ceramic vessels that Johnson hand-built and decorated. Local musicians will play the piano hidden within at scheduled times throughout the run of the exhibition. The work, named for classically trained pianist and music producer Antoine Baldwin, is the largest of the artist’s architectural grid works ever shown in the United States.
Please check out the Milwaukee Art Museum website for the full story of this amazing exhibit.
