Milwaukee Event Photographer: Annual WRA Awards!
As a Milwaukee event photographer, we have developed a few once a year clients that we cherish. This marks the fourth year that we have covered the Wisconsin Restaurant Association (WRA) annual award dinner where they recognize a variety of successful restaurateurs from different regions around the state. The big award of the evening is always The Restaurateurs of the Year award. This year that honor went to Mark and Jean Landreman, owners of Landreman’s Family Restaurant in Kaukauna.
According to the WRA website, “The Restaurateur of the Year award is given to an operator who demonstrates participation and service to the restaurant association, success within their own restaurant and participation in community activities. The winner is selected at a private meeting of past Restaurateur of the Year recipients.”
We all know how hard people in the service industry work. They are some of the most dedicated, genuine and sometimes rough around the edges folks around. As a self-employed Milwaukee event photographer, we know the schedule of one that make their own way. We also know how challenging it can be to find good help to assist you in achieving your vision. The restaurant industry is notorious for a lot of turnover amongst mostly minimum wage workers. It’s hard to imagine a tougher row to hoe than these restaurateurs have chosen in making a career within that context. It is inspiring to hear their stories. They are each emboldened leaders bucking all odds to not only survive but thrive in their market.
These folks have toiled away along side each other for years and years. When the results of all that hard work is a moment of recognition from your peers, the only ones that really know what it takes to keep a restaurant going, it can be an emotional moment. As a Milwaukee event photographer, some of the awards banquets we shoot ends up being pretty polished, scripted and choreographed. Seeing raw emotion on display makes it impossible to ignore the emotional journey.
