Milwaukee Portrait Photographer: Kaion is 1!
Caitlin and Kevin (well, Caitlin, really), have lots of ideas about what they are looking for from a professional photographer. After all, Caitlin is an art teacher and a committed DIY-er and we welcome her passion to the experience. Our professional relationship began with their wedding and it was a really rewarding experience. When they needed a Milwaukee portrait photographer for maternity photos, they called us and we were thrilled to continue their story. Now we have a wall in our gallery dedicated to their growing family!
Recently, we had the pleasure of documenting Kaion for his 1st birthday! We started simply on the porch of the family home (notice Gizmo the dog peeking out from the front door!) and then with a stroll down the sidewalk.
Then we moved on to the main event: the cake smash. Much thought went into where this would happen, how we would set it up, what color frosting would be best,…so many details but you only get one chance for a successful 1 year old cake smash! Of course, the cake was too beautiful to smash, but that’s the joy of it! The time in life when those thoughts don’t even occur to you is fleeting. Sometimes you have to just grab the pretty cake and smash it while you still can.
That’s just what Kaion did. And he loved it! Nothing beats watching a kid do something he seems to instinctively know he’s not supposed to do. He got this little smirk on his face and looked around as if he was thinking, “Really? You adults are just going to let me do this? Ok! Here goes!” Then that smirk turned into a full face grin!
These are times we share with our clients that we cherish. Whenever someone comes into our studio to talk about possibly hiring us, these kinds of moments flash through our heads. It’s a small leap in this long term business to go from engagement session to family portraits. In fact, Catilin and Kevin will be back very soon for newborn photos of their second child, Kaseon! We can’t wait to continue knowing and documenting this wonderful family!
