Hotel InterContinental Wedding: Christina & Tom!

When Christina and Tom started planning their Hotel InterContinental wedding there was a lot to figure out, but they were sure of a few things. “For our wedding we really tried to incorporate my traditional Mexican costumes with Tom’s very modern style. It was very important to us to mesh both cultures in the best way possible. We used many heirlooms that were used at my parent’s wedding (used my mom’s veil, my parents cake knives, and using the lasso and aras). We really wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us individually and as a couple. A true celebration of us,” explained Christina. While the broad strokes of a wedding are generally pretty consistent, it’s these little details that help make a wedding day personal and unique to that couple.

Of course a smooth Hotel Intercontinental wedding day doesn’t happen without the help of some dedicated and talented vendors.  First and foremost, the ever-reliable staff at Hotel Intercontinental made sure Christina and Tom were taken care of at every turn before and during the big day. Christina’s beautiful dress complimented her mother’s veil and was chosen with the help of Amelishan Bridal Shop.  A Personal Touch DJ took care of  keeping the dace floor packed and was assisted by Mariachi Real Azteca. Their delicious cake was from Aggie’s Bakery.

If there was one lesson learned from their wedding day experience, it was this:  “Everyone says that the day goes by so fast.  It really does.  My advice is to schedule private moments with your spouse throughout the day so that you can take a few minutes alone to slow down and truly take it all in. Our photographer and wedding coordinator helped us schedule this time away from everyone and it was so worth it. I know it sounds silly to have to schedule alone time but the day will slip away from you so fast that you may lose those moments if you don’t make it happen ahead of time.” Not silly advice at all! This is something we discovered years ago and advise as well. If you take a moment, perhaps a walk around the block during your reception, it gives you a chance to connect and reflect with your new spouse on a day that is almost literally a whirlwind of emotions, people, and events. It’s amazing how many times we’ve heard this advice from our couples as well.

This was a very special photo for Christina.  It is a recreation of an image of her mom on her wedding day!

One of Christina’s favorite moments was surprising Tom with their dog, Warrior. “Although, it didn’t go as expected (since Warrior was a little anxious and pooped on the side walk) it was nice to be able to get our ‘family photo’ with our dog on the day of the wedding. Tom always said that Warrior should be at the wedding so I did everything I could to make it happen.”
