Milwaukee Commercial Photographer: Pearls for Teen Girls
As a Milwaukee commercial photographer, we are exposed to all kinds of people. One aspect of our business we are very proud of is the non-profit work we do. It is a privilege to be able to use our skills to tell the stories of those doing great work. If our contribution can help shed a light on their cause and drum up more support for them, we are happy to be of service.
Interestingly, once you get involved with the non-profit community, you end up meeting so many wonderfully giving and generous people that there are many opportunities to help. At a recent United Way shoot, we met an alum from Pearls for Teen Girls. Her description of the organization’s work in preparing girls for success in adulthood really touched us. According to their website:
“PEARLS is rapidly becoming known among girls, funders and public and private entities in our community as “the program” for girls’ self-development. Our programs provide girls with a safe place, skill development and self-esteem building that lead to better life choices and an opportunity to realize their full potential. In 2015 PEARLS served over 1,600 girls within Milwaukee County.”
It occurred to us that we could help. As these girls transition from childhood to adulthood, from students to professionals, how wonderful would it be for them to have professional headshots? Since image is so important these days, what better way to make a great first impression?
They loved the idea and offered this great opportunity to their top students as a reward for their hard work. We hosted a lovely group of girls for an afternoon of headshots and were just as impressed by them as their mentors were. Hopefully with their own natural abilities and the support of a strong community, these ladies will find and maximize many opportunities over the years.
