Milwaukee Public Museum Wedding: Rachel & Jason!

Over the last couple years, we have seen a marked increase in couples calling us merely months before their wedding to hire a photographer.  In digging a little deeper, it’s not a lack of prioritization for our art that leads to a last-minute booking, but that couples are planning their entire wedding on a short timeline.  Our theory is that because venues book up so far in advance, couples are sometimes faced with the choice of getting married in 18 months or 3 months and some are too excited to be married to wait that long!  Given this context, it wasn’t shocking when Rachel and Jason booked us in April for their July Milwaukee Public Museum wedding.  What was a bit shocking was how thoroughly they were able to transform a space chock full of it’s own character to fit their style.

We have photographed a few Milwaukee Public Museum weddings over the years, but this was the first one that used the event space as their ballroom. There was a striking elegance to the way they used the event space. It was simple and sparkly which allowed the images made in the Streets of Old Milwaukee to compliment the reception images really well.

The day started at Hilton City Center for all the preparations. This is a classic elegant hotel that is always a wonderful setting for a wedding morning.  The ceremony was at St. Helen’s Church  on Milwaukee’s near south side. This gave us a great opportunity to make some awesome photos of Rachel and Jason and their wedding party on the lake and even in a field!  After that, the rest of the evening went by in a flash as Sound by Design kept the party rolling.  Zilli Hospitality Group made sure everyone had a wonderful meal and there was a delicious cake by Sweet Perfections.  All the flowers were from Country Flowers and the place cards and menus were by Paper Envy.
