Rotunda Wedding
We feel like we have been looking forward to Madonna and Javier’s Rotunda Wedding forever! Madonna and Javier are from Miami and the FR team is here in Milwaukee so we have been Skyping, chatting over the phone, and emailing, but it is wonderful when e-relationships materialize into real life! We knew these two were going to be a blast and their big day would be everything we had expected and more. We are thrilled to share some of our favorite moments from their day with you!
Love Story
Madonna’s explanation of their love story is so funny that we wanted to share with you the story in her own words, it’s priceless.
“Javier and I met at his sister’s wedding in the summer of 2008. I was in Austin, TX doing an internship. His sister was finishing a PH.D at UT. She was BFF’s and drinking buddies with my brother and sister-in-law during undergrad at UW Madison. So, my family came to Austin for her wedding and invited me to go. During the cocktail hour, Javier called me out because I’m very quiet (He’s very loud). The first words he ever said to me was, “Ok, now you talk…” How rude!
Over the next two years, we became friends. Even though I sometimes thought he was annoying, he grew on me. After Austin, I went on to Whitewater to finish a Master’s degree. Javier was living in Indiana. We stayed in contact. We had a lot in common, with sports talk, music, TV shows, movies, etc. We kept gravitating to each other but seeing other people in our respective cities. I would be stressed from school and Javier was always there…pushing me forward and cheering me on.
He was going home to Puerto Rico and invited me to go. He found a plane ticket from Milwaukee for $187 (what?) so I went. We hung out, I met his family, we kissed in the ocean (our first kiss!) and the rest is history. 9 months later he moved from Indiana to Wisconsin. After that, he got a job with the Miami Marlins as a grounds crew manager (before that he was with the Brewers). And I followed him to Miami. We love baseball and football, beaches, beer and cheese curds, our Boston Terrier Lola, family, spending time together, supporting each other and cheering each other on.” – Madonna
Favorite Details
We always love to hear what details a couple is most excited for. After weeks and months of planning and preparation, it’s fun to see what little things mean the most to a bride and groom. Here is what Madonna had to say about their favorite details from the day.
“Javier and I planned personalized touches to make the wedding day our own: The Sea Otters story, the painting done of our First Kiss, our favorite caramel apples, the Latin/Miami touch with the hand-rolled Cuban cigars, the veil I wore for the ceremony that was my mother’s, using the Lasso from my parent’s wedding, who have both passed away, for our wedding. I am so incredibly touched that the photo of Javier and I with the Lasso and receiving a prayer made it to the Front Room Facebook cover photo! At that moment, I really felt my parents there in spirit blessing Javier and I. Front Room captured it so beautifully.” -Madonna
Advice
“As far as words of wisdom, stories, favorite moments, etc… The whole day went by so quickly. Looking back, the day was absolutely beautiful and we cherished every moment. After I finished getting my hair and makeup done, I turned my phone off. I did not want any interruptions or distractions.” – Madonna
