Strawberry Creek Wedding: Lauren & Jon!

When Lauren got in touch with us about her Strawberry Creek Wedding, it was from her home in Indiana.  Of course, a bride doing all of her planning from afar is not unusual but it comes with it’s fair share of challenges.  Easing Lauren’s burden were her wonderfully involved parents.  They came to see us and could not have been sweet or more supportive of their daughter and her plans.  This wedding was very important to the whole family and it showed in every aspect of the day.

Here is Lauren and Jon’s story in Lauren’s words:

“Jon and I met when we were in college at Carthage College in Kenosha Wisconsin, this was one of the reasons we got married in Kenosha. He was a senior and I was a junior. We had a class together, that he almost dropped out of and the professor told him to stick with it, which is the first cool part of the story, maybe if he had dropped it he wouldn’t have noticed me! But he stayed in the class and apparently instead of paying attention to the professor he was busy watching me ;). He got the courage to talk to me when we were at the popular college bar. I was there with another guy, who ended up being a total jerk that night! Jon was/is very observant and noticed this other guy ignoring me and talking to other girls so he saw this as his chance to go for it. He came up to me and said something along the lines of ‘stop wasting your time with this loser, you should be with someone who appreciates how beautiful and smart you are, and that person is me!’

At the time, I assumed he was drunk, because no one talks like that these days, but in the days to follow I realized he was very serious, and never said anything he didn’t mean. We went on dates, and really cemented our fate when we kissed at The Carthage Kissing Rock- where rumor has it if you kiss at this rock you get married! So from that moment on we were inseparable. It seems like that night was meant to happen, it changed our lives!”

Of course this Strawberry Creek wedding would not have been complete without the contributions of many talented people.  Jesse from Kidron Music, Strawberry Creek’s “home DJ” took care of the lighting and kept the party rolling.  Lovin’ Oven Cakery provided a delicious cake and Westosha Floral made sure the room had the “wow factor” Lauren and Jon wanted it to have.  It takes a special team to make a special day happen and Lauren and Jon assembled the best!
