Whistling Straits Wedding: Andrea & John!
When Andrea and John started planning their Whistling Straits wedding, they really hit the ground running. It didn’t hurt that Andrea’s career is in planning events, but perhaps an even bigger factor was the breadth of services Whistling Straits offers. When making one choice for your wedding determines the location of both your ceremony and reception as well as who is doing your cake, flowers, catering and decor, it really simplifies things. “John and I both wanted the day to be easy and stress free for everyone involved and that’s exactly what it was. We wanted all of our family, friends and even our vendors to enjoy the day and beautiful landscape,” said Andrea.
For Andrea and John, actually spending time with their friends and family on their wedding day was a top priority. To ensure that outcome, Andrea made sure everyone was on the same page and was able to avoid the hectic feeling that can overcome a less organized wedding. “All the women in the bridal party were up early and at the Championship locker room by 8:00am to get ready. We all enjoyed mimosas, exchanging gifts and walking around the property. The guys were able to sleep in and arrive right before lunch. After they got ready they enjoyed a nice guy session with their cigars,” added Andrea. This is precisely the kind of wedding morning you want. Having a calm morning really allows you to stay present and recognize the emotional side of what this day means.
“The nerves didn’t really hit until my first look with my father. My father has been my hero and best friend so the moment between him and I in the locker room was very special and emotional. After that I departed for the first look with John and the rest of our bridal party watching,” explained Andrea. It’s these types of moments that we always hope for and have our eyes open to. We love making art throughout the day with the couple and making the most of the planned events, as well, but these real moments are the ones that deepen the emotional content of the story we are telling.
Andrea’s brother officiated their ceremony, adding another personal element to the official proceedings. Said Andrea, “My brother was the officiant and did an amazing job, right before the ceremony I saw him sitting by himself looking over his notes and looked slightly nervous. My brother is my only sibling and has always been a great people person, he surpassed my expectations even after we forgot to exchange the rings. Luckily, no one noticed and we simply put the rings on after we exchanged our vows. 🙂 The ceremony was very emotional for me, I just remember holding John’s hands tight, staring at him and NOT the audience, and my brother consoling me when I struggled through our personal readings.”
Andrea and John’s Whistling Straits wedding had all the elements we love about wedding days: a beautiful scene, a well organized game plan, and genuine emotions.
Congratulations, Andrea and John!
