Winter Wedding at Hotel InterContinental Milwaukee – Emily & Alex!
When Emily and Alex chose November 21 as their wedding date in Wisconsin, they knew they had to be ready for anything from a lovely fall day to a true winter wedding. Little did they know, that day would be the only day of the 2015 fall season in Milwaukee to see a flake of snow hit the ground. It added just the right amount of sparkle to a day already shimmering with beauty.
Words of Wedding Wisdom
“Don’t stress…it’s one day. Any hurdles can be solved.” – Emily
That is quite a quote coming from a bride who, just a month before her wedding, realized that an allergy was going to prevent her from wearing the dress she had originally purchased for wedding day. It was White Dress Bridal Boutique to the rescue. They were able to get Emily this gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown in time and it looked amazing on her!
Including the Whole Family
Emily and Alex love their dog Sloane who stopped by the Iron Horse Hotel for a few snowy pictures. Remember that even if your reception or ceremony won’t be pet-friendly, there are lots of opportunities to fit in your furry friends on the wedding day!
Advice from the bride:
“Hire the right vendors. We did our research and hired vendors that came highly recommended. After phone calls and in person meetings, I was confident we were in great hands. By doing so, much of the wedding just came together on it’s own. The week of and the day of, I didn’t have to worry about any of the vendors and everyone of them exceeded all of our expectations.”

First Dance – “You are the Best Thing”
Favorite Detail
One of the couple’s favorite details, and something they were super excited for going into the wedding day was the Gilles Custard stand at their reception. We love that they went bold and weren’t afraid to do cold treats at their winter wedding. Custard is good any time of year and it was an unexpected treat for their guests.
Flash Mob at the Reception
“When the doors opened and I saw Alex down the aisle. I’ll never forget that moment. My favorite part of the reception was when all of our guests surprised us with a flash mob. We were shocked and couldn’t believe all our friends and family on both sides had taken the time to learn a choreographed dance. That dance got the party started and the energy level continued the rest of the evening.”
