Wedding Venue on Milwaukee’s Lower East Side

Situated in the trendy neighborhood of Milwaukee’s Lower East Side, 1451 Renaissance Place is an elegant building from the early days of Milwaukee. Its exterior is a beautiful nod to European architecture. Giant Greek columns at the entrance are definitely a plus for couples looking for that WOW factor!

The Interview

Style of the space:

Historic and grand – not a typical reception hall.

They only book one event at a time, so it is private. It feels like a special place – tasteful and elegant, with minimal decor so you can make it your own.

History of 1451 Renaissance Place:

It was built in the early 1900s as a Christian Science Church.

The architect was Solon Spencer Beman, and best known as the architect of the planned Pullman community and adjacent Pullman Company factory complex

It was converted into an event venue in the 1980s.

The arched area on the stage used to be a pipe organ loft. You can see the sloped ceiling in the cocktail room, that is from the pew seating that used to be upstairs.

The metal air duct covers match the stained glass of the adjacent windows. (Beautiful!)

I love to be the one to fluff the dress before the bride walks down the aisle! Seeing the emotions that happen behind the scenes, being involved with people at a special time in their lives. – Andrea

Favorite Trends:

Classic and simple late night food stations use of supplemental lighting. Everyone LOVES a late night snack.

Before picking a venue, consider:

Quality and level of service offered, continuity of the relationship (you will stay with the same coordinator the whole time, not handed off by a sales staff), years of experience, and online reviews.

The Beauty

Not only is the backdrop of the venue itself a beautiful location for wedding photos, but the neighborhood is an ideal location for taking advantage of all Milwaukee has to offer. You are minutes from downtown, the lakefront, and the Upper East side!

With all of that beauty and variety so close by, we can accomplish a lot in a little bit of time. We love when couples light up the exterior of the building at night – it makes for some amazing final shots with your venue as the backdrop (sentimental and pretty! We love it!).
