Discovery World is more than just a kid’s museum. Sitting right on Milwaukee’s lakefront, it’s one of the most stunning event spaces in the area. For the past 11 years, Bartolotta’s has been the exclusive caterer for Discovery World.

The space is one-of-a-kind, with amazing views from their ballroom, the Pilot House, an incredible aquarium, and a new permanent structure called The Pavilion is coming soon!

The Interview

Why are couples drawn to your space?

Couples are definitely drawn to our space by the lakefront, having this view and outdoor options. The uniqueness of the aquarium for the cocktail hour is huge, as well. The set up throughout the exhibit space of the museum provides such a memorable experience for the guests! It’s just different than anywhere else.

What style or type of weddings or couples are the best fit?

All kind of different styles! Not a barn wedding, obviously. But anything from modern to traditional, to real simple and basic, as far as decor wise, all the way up to a very extravagant Dynamic Events by David Caruso wedding!

We always tell couples, especially once we get a feel for them and for their budget, anybody can get married in a hall with no windows, but here you can be so simple with the decor because in either space you have your own decor already built-in with the lakefront. Our couples don’t have to worry so much about decorating our space.

Fab feature couples might not know about?

Our team! (Laughing) Years of experience of planning events.

But seriously, Discovery World has been a staple on the lake for over 10 years now, but most people are still not exposed to the space in general. When we do tours for people, they are often surprised by unique features of our building. A door opens into a new room and everyone’s jaw is dropping.

Services available in-house?

You name it, we’ve got it! Everything!

Really, what is great is that it comes with its own coordinator. Anything besides a photographer and DJ. You get a personal experience with us. We can help you with all of these things. Full on-site coordinating from tour to event day. We are with you through it all.

One thing every bride and groom should know before their wedding?

Don’t stress, the little details will work itself out, keep it personal, and keep it between two of you. If you like ice-cream as a dessert – serve it at your wedding. The day is really reflecting on the life you are starting together. Incorporate cheese, especially cheese curds (laughing).

Favorite trend you are seeing for weddings this year?

Minimal is more. Simple chic. We love it!

Your day isn’t about frills, it’s about the two of you, let’s just celebrate it. I think more and more people are realizing that.
