Andrea and Kate are the perfect team to run this modern downtown venue. They know exactly who their couples are (stylish, hip) and how to take care of them (give them all the service they can handle).
We were excited to have a chance to sit down with this wonderful team and get their take on weddings at The Garden.

The Interview
Tell us about the history of the venue!
The space used to be a nightclub. The venue was renovated 3 years ago by Flux Design.
The wooden floor is original and beautiful, but they did to relocate the bar to transform it more into an event venue. The kitchen, pastry department, and butcher shop are located downstairs for the restaurant group so the food is very fresh always.
The SURG Group owns the whole building with their offices upstairs and another secret floor above the offices. It’s very building is very historical looking with original woodwork still intact. And it’s haunted. 🙂
What type of couples are drawn to your space?
Really modern people. I often tell people that if you are not a Pinterest or DIY kind of person and don’t want to do anything yourself – come here!
This venue doesn’t even need much decoration. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on flowers and other fancy stuff. It looks great just the way it is!
Fab feature couples might not know about?
Our pricing is all-inclusive, we take care of the rental and the catering for you.
You don’t have to deal with many other vendors. Just bring a photographer and DJ.
What services are available in-house?
Rental, catering, day-of coordination, ceremony, and reception. We can do everything in one spot.
The valet across the street services the whole street, not just us. We can contract with them and it’s $7 per guest. But people can do it on their own.
All catering is in-house. One of our favorite dishes is stuffed chicken with mushroom and fontina cheese – it’s really good. The Garden’s chef used to be at our restaurant Umami Moto. We have great sushi here in-house and he is really good with Asian food, which is kinda fun. All the food is awesome.
One thing every bride and groom should know before their wedding?
Don’t dwell on details the day off. Take it for what it is and enjoy it.
What question do couples forget to ask you?
By the time we finish running through all our options, there aren’t any questions left to ask! People often ask me: “What am I forgetting?” and it is usually nothing because our team takes care of everything here.
Favorite trend you are seeing for weddings this year?
Dessert bars! I see very few wedding cakes this year.
Our pastry girls make mini desserts, which are killers! You can get a ton of different flavors and variety. Your guests can have options.

The Beauty
The location of The Garden is perfect for venturing out to take advantage of all downtown Milwaukee has to offer!
And that goes for any time of year. We hit the riverwalk with this couple during their December wedding.
Seriously, Wisconsin gets a bad wrap in the winter. We think Milwaukee is beautiful in every season. Even locations you wouldn’t think of being good “winter spots” can offer a lot. We love the pops of color of the Riverwalk banners, the warm glow of the lamps burning over the path and even the patina of copper popping in the background. And then the icy backdrop of the river.
All of this just minutes away from The Garden and their stunning interior and amazing food. We don’t think you can ask for much more than that!
