Milwaukee Athletic Club Wedding: Amie & Peter!
The story of Amie and Peter’s Milwaukee Athletic Club wedding could not be told without including their completely unique proposal story. “Pete started talking about wanting to have a wedding. Amie was game, but asked that they follow the predicate convention of an engagement. We picked out a ring at lunchtime on 8/29/17. To mine and the jeweler’s surprise, he bought it on the spot. Amie gave it back to him and said he could ask and give her the ring whenever he was ready. 53 year old confirmed bachelor, you know. Anyway, we live together and that night Pete was cooking dinner in our tiny NYC kitchen. Amie was sitting on a stool next to him, winding down from a busy work day with the most expensive lunch ever. Pete said, apropos of nothing, ‘This is so stupid.’ Amie, accustomed to such outbursts, asked ‘What is?’ Pete said ‘We have the ring, we know we’re doing it, what I am waiting for!?’ Amie said ‘That is completely up to you, I have zero expectations on time.’ Pete went into the other room, got the ring, came back into the kitchen and handed the ring down to Amie (still sitting on the stool) and said ‘Will you…marry me?’ Amie said ‘Yes.’ We hugged and Pete grabbed his phone. He called my father and told him, and then started texting everyone he had ever met a picture of the ring on my finger. He toured the MAC the next day and here we are.”
Levi and Adam, Amie’s sons, were at times composed and at other times total kids (below). Of course, that’s the only way we would have it. We like to capture the spirit of the day and that includes a 5 and 10-year-old chasing each other around a bit.
