Wisconsin Farm Wedding: Emma & Scott!

Emma and Scott’s Wisconsin farm wedding was a truly unique experience. Any time a wedding day happens on a private family farm, it is inherently new to us and intensely personal to that couple and family. When you add some horses into the mix, it takes it up another notch. The location and the animals were only surface-level qualities that made this wedding so special. Nothing about this wedding was by the book. “We were so lucky to have supportive parents who wanted us to do whatever felt right to us. I didn’t wear a veil, didn’t have a cake, didn’t do an “old/new/borrowed/blue,” did’t wear a garter, and didn’t toss my bouquet. We had beer instead of champagne, and we didn’t miss any of it (neither did my 94-year-old grandmother!). Don’t feel cowed or intimidated by Pinterest, bridal magazines, or traditions, and do what you love. Your guests will appreciate it too!” declared Emma.

Emma wanted to do something as a very special thank you to her Aunt Libby for hosting the wedding on her farm. Emma knew her aunt had this amazing collection of hand-made box horses that she had made over the years. Emma and each bridesmaid chose whichever they most identified with to wear and make this special photo.

In this unique first look, Emma and Scott gave and read each other letters before finally ending the suspense and seeing each other for the first time in their wedding finery.

Isn’t this bridge amazing?!? If it looks like a Monet painting, that was completely intentional. It was finished just in time for the wedding.

This was more than just a fun wedding. Both Emma and Scott come from musical families and that shared bond really brought all of them together in a very special way.

“Because my husband and I are both music teachers, we put a lot of care and effort into all of the live music in our wedding. We had friends perform in a brass quintet for our ceremony; my brother’s friends provided a jazz trio for our cocktail hour, and we had various combinations of family and friend bands for the first part of our reception. We had such a blast playing at our wedding!” exclaimed Emma.
