Milwaukee Portrait Photographer: Gwendolyn turns 1!

Nothing makes us more proud than morphing from a couple’s wedding photographer into their Milwaukee portrait photographer. Not only does is it tell us our clients are super happy, it also means this family who’s inception we documented is starting to grow! Cheryl and Rob brought us to Nevada for their wedding a few years ago. It was truly epic to see their wonderful families come together. Now, they are embarking on a journey even more epic!

Gwendolyn came along one year ago to make Cheryl and Rob parents. They are a grounded, sweet, and extremely thoughtful couple. There was no doubt in our mind that they are going to be amazing parents. To see them in action with their bundle of joy confirmed that and then some. Gwendolyn has her mom’s face, her dad’s charm, and a big personality for such a little girl.

We were very excited to have such a perfect day to hang out in the park together. The fact that Gwendalyn isn’t quite walking yet was a lovely bonus. Once kids become mobile, photographing them becomes a lot more challenging. Not that we aren’t up for a good challenge now and again, but it’s really nice to be able to draw out a child’s personality from a stationary position!

Sometimes we get the chance to work both indoor and outdoor locations into a portrait. It’s nice to have that kind of aesthetic variety and, with some kids, it can even bring out a different side of their personality.  Every child is different and our goal is to make the photos unique to them. It may be that being in their home environment helps them relax in front of the camera. Sometimes having distractions like the texture of grass or random twigs to pick up is what they need to warm up.
