Milwaukee Event Photographer: Salvation Army!
There are so many inspiring evenings and people we are exposed to in the city we love so much. This very special night was the first of its kind, so everything was taken to the nth degree. The Salvation Army Milwaukee County held its first (and hopefully annual) Red Kettle on the Red Carpet Gala at the Wisconsin Club. Heading the A-list of attendees was performer Paul Shaffer and host Melinda Davenport of WISN-TV. The room was packed with other national and local celebrities and executives including Rick Schlesinger of the Milwaukee Brewers, Tami Garrison of MillerCoors, Milwaukee real estate developer Robert Joseph, Jeff Morin of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, Terrell Morgan of Maldonado & Morgan and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett who raised a total of $118,000 this night.
Dena Nord, of Odvant Creative, created a live painting which was auctioned off during the evening!
WISN-TV (Channel 12) morning news anchor Melinda Davenport, Milwaukee Bucks senior executive Alex Lasry and Steven Gruber of Gruber Law Office LLC were the co-chairs of the event.
Shaffer, who spent more than three decades as musical director, band leader and sidekick on the entire run of both “Late Night with David Letterman” and “Late Show with David Letterman,” said he agreed to perform at the event after receiving an invitation from Davenport. He said it was the third time he had been to Milwaukee in his career, the previous two in the 1980s for an appearance at Summerfest and to sing the National Anthem at a Milwaukee Brewers game.
“I really wanted to help because it’s for such a good cause,” he said.
Shaffer performed for about 45 minutes, singing a mix of songs he wrote, including The Weather Girls’ 1980s hit “It’s Raining Men,” and holiday numbers.
Former Packer Dorsey Levens and former Milwaukee Bucks former Bobby Dandridge answered questions from guests.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett inspired the crowd’s generosity during the live auction.
The live auction was the highlight of the evening.
Auctioneer Dan Pronley worked the crowd as the live auction unfolded.
