Saz’s South Second: United Way P5 Event!
Saz’s South Second was host to United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County’s 2016 P5 event! From United Way’s website:
“Each year, United Way’s Emerging Leaders honor five community leaders and one Philanthropic Youth winner for their commitment to the community through the Philanthropic Five awards.
The Philanthropic Five awards recognize five community leaders in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who give, advocate, and volunteer for change. The Philanthropic Youth award recognizes a youth community leader under 21 years old. Meet the 2016 Award Winners: Grady Crosby, Catherine Draeger-Pederson, Molly Hogan, Katie Maloney Perhach, Matt Walker and Philanthropic Youth Winner Megan Dogra.”

Using our skills to help out worthy causes is one of the biggest personal benefits of the work we do. Each year we have a number of dates on our calendar that are reserved for donated photo booths, photo shoots, and gift certificates that get distributed around town to various organizations. United Way is tops on our list for organizations that we support, so much so that our own Neil Kiekhofer received a 2015 P5 award and was tabbed to emcee this year’s event. While public speaking isn’t something Neil always gravitates to, over the years he has developed into a confident, charming host. His strong personal feelings about non-profit work made him the perfect choice to frame the evening’s events and congratulate the new winners.
Overall, these types of events are nothing short of inspiring. There is so much access to negative news these days that it is truly refreshing to spend an evening celebrating pe0ple that have prioritized making a positive change in their community.
