Dynamic Events and Pfister Photography – Natalie & Paul!

We knew Natalie and Paul would have a simply stunning day.  After all, David Caruso with Dynamic Events was running the show!  What we weren’t prepared for was the level of character, emotion and humility that was on display all day.  This was a special group of people.

From the beginning of the day at Natalie’s parents house, everyone was up for anything we had in mind, giving us the artistic license to tell their story in an unfettered way.  This came to fruition when Natalie and Paul accompanied us to an abandoned, graffitied building, avoiding broken glass along the way.  The loved it and so did we!

From those ruins, we climbed out and found ourselves at the height of luxury in the Pfister’s Grand Ballroom.  What followed was a litany of impassioned toasts, hilarious roasts and vibrant dancing.

It was a great night.

Ripon Wedding Photography – Kate & Rafael

Kate and Rafael, both more accustomed to making art than being the art, welcomed us into their family on a beautiful July day.

After beginning their relationship at an art opening at Ripon College, they chose the same locale to culminate their commitment.  It was an emotional scene that unfolded onstage when they stood in front of everyone and declared a new family.

Of course, Kate and Rafael (along with Freida, their weimaraner) have been family for a while now.  This just made it official.

They celebrated with some sweet serenading followed by dancing.  Much fun was had by all.

In the end, Kate and Rafael keep it all in perspective, focusing on what is important – you are marrying your dear love. Read more

Artful Wisconsin Wedding Photography – Kate & Vance!

Kate and Vance are a couple who knows what they want.  Kate wanted to teach kids how to dance.  Vance wanted Kate to be happy.  With Vance’s help and encouragement, Kate started the Starz Dance Academy.  This couple knows what they want and they make it happen.

On a beautiful day in August, they wanted to get married and have everyone they love their to witness it and help them celebrate.  They wanted a fun casual atmosphere with the elegance of a tented affair.  They got all that at Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc.

Kate and Vance (and all their little helpers) had a great assortment of (in many cases hand made) lawn games that kept everyone entertained.  In order to them to kiss, they actually had a blown up print of themselves and challenged everyone to fire a suction cup dart at their heads.

They made the day their own, up to and including setting hundreds of Chinese lanterns aloft that filled the Oconomowoc sky. Read more

Bartolotta Wedding Photography at the Grain Exchange – Anastasia & Bill!

Anastasia and Bill’s big Greek wedding was a blast, start to finish.

We are always grateful when given the opportunity to shoot at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.  It’s architecturally stunning and astonishingly intimate for a space that holds many guests.

The beauty of an Orthodox Greek wedding ceremony deserves it’s own paragraph.  Between the vibrant colors, the pungent aromas and the ethereal prayers, it is a transformative experience.

Set at the classic Wisconsin Club and beautified by Gregory’s flowers, it was the perfect atmosphere for both an elegant meal the raucus party that followed.  If we didn’t know better, we would think Anastasia and Bill invited only the best dancers of their family and friends.  The dance floor was rocking non-stop.

It’s really not too surprising when there was so much to celebrate!

Holiday Lites Shine Bright In Miller Valley – Corporate Photography & Videography!

RS Main

Ten years ago Miller Brewing Company reintroduced holiday lights back to Miller Valley after a 50-year hiatus. I remember as the Light Show Committee sat around a large table in our corporate pub brainstorming a variety of themes, when suddenly the simplest of concepts took on a new life with a new spelling … Holiday Lites. It could not have been more perfect.

Of course the shows have had their variations over the years. At first, it was for employees only. We had ice sculptors, magicians, celebrities and food vendors on the street in freezing-cold temperatures. A few years later, we opened up the concept of Lite Shows to the public in a small capacity that took a few years to grow in popularity. But slowly and surely they began to grow. We incorporated Windell Middlebrooks, the High Life Delivery Guy, and even the Girl In The Moon into our Holiday Lites show skits in recent years. The most impactful addition, however, has been to choose a family on each tour throughout the evening to “flip the switch” and start the show. That simple act is absolutely priceless and it shows on every face as they head off to find those glorious beer samples that await them after the tour (if 21 or older, of course).

Never in my wildest imagination did I think Holiday Lites would become what it is today … tradition. Not only is this something that we as employees look forward to and attend every year, but thousands in the community do, too, as they visit multiple times throughout a single season. I have received testimonials from people who visited Miller Valley to view the lights as young children with their parents in the 1950s and ‘60s. Those same people now return annually with wives, husbands and children of their own to carry on the tradition. Of all the gifts I could think of to share with this community–that one fills my bucket up to the brim. I myself am a wife and mother to a family who attends annually, just like the rest of the community, to share a traditional holiday moment together and just … enjoy.
